Target has a rich heritage in championing music. For the 53rd annual Grammy awards they wanted to do something special. The iconic event is hosted at an iconic location – the Staples Center in downtown LA. Target had secured the flagship billboard and wanted to use it to celebrate the city and its impact on music culture.
We worked with LA-based artist Steven Harrington to create a larger-than-life mural as an homage to Los Angeles. It depicted all that was inspirational about the city, from the ocean to the Hollywood hills. The art direction was inspired by classic LA murals, combined with a touch of Target’s inimitable style.
